Dear Parents,

I am honored and excited to be a part of your child’s 3rd grade learning experience. I know this is going to be a fantastic year! This website will tell you a little about me and some important information. Please subscribe to this website for any important newsflash reminders or updates.

I am excited to get to know each of your children and find out about the unique experiences that they've had.  I think getting to know each child will help foster a sense of community and learning environment in our classroom.  I believe that strong parent involvement will also help promote a positive learning experience for your child.

I look forward to working with you and your child this school year!

Thank you,
Anne Eichler

Quick update

Well, I think that shaving cream was a success today. We went a little overboard and spent more time cleaning up than actually playing with it, but that's half the fun :)
Tomorrow we will build forts and draw / read. I would love for each child to bring in a blanket and flashlight to use. The kids always have fun with this one, so I am excited to see how they like it.
I can't believe that I just have a few more days with you sweet children. I am going to miss them so much!
Please let me know if you have any questions about the next week. I know it gets busy!

Updates for tomorrow

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!
We had a busy day today! Thank you to our PTO for the cultural program today! It was a lot of fun!
Tomorrow we have another busy day ahead. Please send your child with his / her yearbook. We will be signing after specials. If your child did not purchase a yearbook, I will have paper and clipboards available for them to make a special signing book.
We also have an illustrator visit tomorrow. It should be a lot of fun! He's going to show the kids how to make a few illustrations. Look for those tomorrow night :)
Tomorrow is also our odd sock day. Students are encouraged to wear them.
I hope that you had a marvelous Monday! It's hard to believe that it is our last Monday in class together!

Tomorrow is Electronics Day and a Note from Ms. Dean

Tomorrow the kids will have some electronics time. They can bring electronics with them, or use their chromebooks. They will have 30-45 minutes in the afternoon to play.
Please see the note below from Ms. Dean...

I would love your input as to what you value the most and feel is the most essential part of a comprehensive counseling program.  If you could respond to the survey below, that would be wonderful in helping me tailor the program to meet the needs of our students here at CFES!

Ms. Dean, Counselor

Warm regards,

Elysia Dean

Weekly Update

I hope that all of you fabulous mothers had a wonderful Mother's Day!!!
This week we will be focusing lots of time on science and social studies. On Friday we will have our science benchmark. I will attach a study guide. Feel free to study at home. We will continue studying in class.
On Friday, your children brought home a yellow calendar. It is our countdown for the rest of the school year. I can't believe that it is already that time! Tomorrow students are welcome to bring card games such as, Uno, Skipbo, Apples to Apples, playing cards, etc.
Have a wonderful evening!

Field Day tomorrow!

Another fun day! Thank you for sending lots of fun games with the kids! They had a great time with them :)
Tomorrow is field day!  The students gave me a thumbs up that they all know what color to wear. If you have a question on your child's shirt color, let me know. Field day will be from 9:30-12:30. Feel free to swing by or stay the whole time. Just a reminder that the cafeteria will be closed tomorrow. Please send your child with a sack lunch and a water bottle. Your child should have on tennis shoes tomorrow. Please apply sunscreen at home before school. They can also wear a hat if they would like.
After field day, we will have a picnic lunch in the pod. They are welcome to bring blankets or towels to sit on. We will also watch a movie and play prodigy in the afternoon to relax. They can use their blanket during that time too.
I hope that you are all having a great week, it is hard to believe that May is already about half way done!
Have a great night!

Creativity Day was a success!

Today we started our day with some donuts and juice because, "We do-nut have to worry about STAAR anymore!"  The kids really enjoyed the treat. Then we went outside for an extra recess to get out some extra energy. After specials the kids began making a slideshow for next years third graders and some encouraging words for them, when they are preparing for STAAR. I'm excited to see their finished products :)
After lunch and recess we spent lots of time creating! They had a great time and did such a nice job sharing with their classmates. Thank you for giving them the opportunity to bring items to school to use and share!
Tomorrow we will be enjoying board games in the afternoon. Your child can bring a board game to share with his / her classmates. I think they will have a great time with this!  Due to K-2 field day tomorrow, we will not have specials. We have some fun activities planned for them instead.
I'll post again tomorrow with field day updates!
Have a great afternoon!

STAAR is in the books!!

Wow, your children have worked so hard over the last two days! I am so proud of them! Make sure to give them a big hug and let them go out and play...they deserve it!
We are going to celebrate by having some fun tomorrow. I encourage students to bring items that they can use to craft or create. Many of them suggested Legos, yarn for weaving, pom poms, loom bracelets, coloring pages, etc. All of those items work. If there are any questions if an item should be brought, feel free to send me an email tonight.
Just a reminder that fifth grade will be taking their science STAAR test tomorrow. That means that visitors are not allowed on campus. Sorry if this causes an inconvenience!
I'll send out another post tomorrow evening with the plan for Thursday :)
Thank you again for all of your support and have a great night!

What hard workers!

The students worked so hard today!! I am so proud of them!
Thank you again for your notes that you took the time to write and send in for them! I think that they enjoyed them and it helped start their day off on a positive note :)
Please make sure that they have another good night of sleep and breakfast in the morning. They still do not need to bring their backpacks or a water bottle in tomorrow. They can still bring their lunches and an afternoon snack. Goldfish and water will be provided for during the test tomorrow. (Thanks again PTO!!)
Below is a note below from the PE coaches regarding field day. I had everyone write down their color for Friday in their planner. We are all different, since we are being split with the other four classes. Let me know if you have any questions :)

Your child will participate in field day this week. K-2nd grade will be on Thursday from 9:30-12:30, and 3rd -5th grade will be on Friday from 9:30-12:30. Please make sure that they wear the color that their teacher has given them, and tennis shoes. Field day attire must follow the school dress code. Kindergarten lunch is from 10:30-11:00, 1st grade from 11:00-11:30, and 2nd grade is from 11:30-12:00. Grades 3-5 will eat after the games at 12:30. If you did not order a box lunch for your student, please be sure to send your student with a sack lunch. On Friday the cafeteria will be closed, and will not be serving the regular menu to ANY grades. Only box lunches that were pre ordered, will be served on Friday. Please pack a lunch on Friday as well, if you did not order a box lunch.

Please make sure that your student puts on sunscreen/bug spray before they come to school. Please send them with a water bottle and towel for picnicking as well. We are hoping for beautiful weather, but you never know what could happen. Unless it is storming, we will plan to go on with the day. Thank you for allowing your child to participate. We are looking forward to 2 days full of fun!

Have a great night!!

23 more days of school left!!   Wow!  Although I'm just as ready as the kids for our summer to begin, I am starting to feel a little sad that our year has gone by so quickly!  This has truly been one of the greatest years in my teaching career.
We are getting ready for STAAR, and having some fun in order to get motivated for our big days next week.  Remember the tests are May 8th and 9th.  I will send out more information later in the week.  Be sure to check for an email from me, sent earlier today about "Parent Homework".  :)
I am sending home two workbooks that you can keep at home for practice.  One is a blue reading workbook.  We will not be using it for the rest of the year.  In the back are some 4th grade type writing tasks that might be great for summer prep for next year.  The other book is our Motivation Reading workbook.  Any passages we have not used would be excellent practice for STAAR next week.  The homework pages after each unit have short paragraphs with 4 questions.  These are great to use as quick checks.  These workbooks do not need to come back to school.  We are using other materials for our STAAR Boot Camp this week!
Spelling is List 24.  Our Vocabulary Quiz over Unit 13 will be on Thursday.
Don't forget about the Penny War to support DI over the next two weeks!
Our Field Day is next Friday.  Students will have team colors based on their specials group.  I will send out more information later in the week.
THANK YOU for the beautiful flowers for Teacher Appreciation week! I already feel so lucky to spend each day with your children!

Quick Update

Happy Wednesday!  I hope you are having a fantastic week so far!
I loved seeing so many moms yesterday for Muffins with Mom!  Thank you for coming out!
We have been so busy lately!  Your children have been working hard.
Reading: We are still preparing for STAAR and working on testing strategies, but we've also had a chance to enjoy "The Lemonade War." I know that you kid's are really enjoying it. We are currently working on Unit 13 in our vocabulary unit.
Writing / Social Studies: Students are working on an opinion piece where they are picking if they would prefer to live 100 years ago or now. We are focusing on transportation, communication and one aspect that they get to choose on their own. They will then create their report on a Google slideshow and present it to the class. This will be for a major writing and social studies grade. We should have those wrapped up by the middle of next week.
Math: Friday we will wrap up our financial literacy unit. We will not have a major grade assessment over this unit. We are also continuing to do some review for STAAR and will continue that with some fun games next week.
Science: This week we started our study of animals and their characteristics. We will begin life cycles by the end of the week.
Thank you for all of the book donations from the book fair!  I am excited for all of the additions to our classroom library. The kids must be too, because they have flown off the shelves :)
I appreciate all of your continued support!

Weekly Update 4/10-4/14

I hope you've had a marvelous Monday! We were busy at work today :)
It was great seeing many of you at Run the Creek and Creekfest on Friday! Thank you for supporting us!
We have a lot happening this week in class...
Tomorrow the choir club students will attend their choir contest at Lone Star College. If your child is in choir club, please make sure that they are in their correct attire and are here on time. They will leave around 8:45.
This week we will also be collecting food and supplies for the Abandoned Animal Rescue in Tomball. This goes along with our district book, "The Lemonade War."  It would be great if we had lots to donate to them.
We will have our math test over data and graphs this Thursday. The review is their homework that was sent home on Friday.  We will also do review in class to prepare.
We decided that we would not have reading homework this week, with it being a short week.  Your children may also have told you that we rolled over their spelling list to this week. We will have the test this Thursday. Our vocabulary unit 12 quiz was also pushed back another week. The quiz will now be on April 20th.
Today your child will bring home their mock STAAR tests.  Feel free to go over them with them, ask them questions, or just tell them you are proud of them and move on :)  They did a fabulous job and we will continue preparing in class.
We are also in need of a couple items:
**items for our class treasure box
**clear scotch tape
This will only be a four day week. We will have Friday off for Good Friday.  Enjoy your long weekend!
Thank you for all of your continued support!

Math mock STAAR complete!!

I can't even begin to express how proud of your children I am! They worked so hard today and it showed on their results! Their effort was absolutely marvelous!
Thank you for making sure that they were prepared for today with, a good night's sleep, hearty breakfast and a positive pep all helped!
Tomorrow we will take our reading mock STAAR, which they are prepared for. I think it will be another great day for us.
They may have some extra energy tonight and tomorrow night, due to sitting much of the day. Please let them take some time to play outside :) They definitely deserve it.
Have a great night!
