About Mrs. DeBose

WELCOME TO FIRST GRADE

Dear 1st Grade Parents and Students,

It is with great pleasure that I will be working with you all this school year !

My name is Kimberly DeBose, and the 2016-2017 school year marks my 15th year of teaching.

Prior to teaching in Tomball ISD, I taught in Conroe and Katy ISD.  I love having the honor of helping students broaden their passion of learning concepts in all subject areas in addition to developing great friendships with their peers. Each year, my students look forward to a classroom environment where they have an opportunity to  collaborate, explore, and participate in engaging activities with their classmates and friends.

I graduated from Texas State University in San Marcos, TX with Honors in 2002 with a Bachelor’s in Interdisciplinary Studies and a specialization in Reading. I have teaching certifications including: Elementary Self Contained for grades 1-8, Elementary Reading for Grades 1-8 and English as a Second Language for Early Childhood through 4th grade. I also have extensive training for Gifted and Talented learners.

I am a native Houstonian, and I have been married to my wonderful husband for 10 years. I have 2 beautiful children, ages 6 and 2. As a family, we love to spend time together and we also enjoy traveling. Some of my personal hobbies and interests include: cooking, shopping, reading, and traveling.

I am excited about the school year ! Family support and involvement are incredibly important and welcome. Please do not hesitate to contact me at kimberlydebose@tomballisd.net with any questions or concerns.

Respectfully ,

Kimberly DeBose

Final Days of School Countdown:

Please mark your calendars for our End of Year Party on Thursday, June 1 from 11:30 - 12:30

Please remind your 1st grader to check the Lost and Found for any lost items. The Lost and Found table is located in the hallway between the library and the cafeteria. Any unclaimed items will be donated at the end of the school year.

From now until the end of the school year, students will have an opportunity to celebrate the final days of school by doing something special each day.

Since students enjoyed bringing stuffed animals earlier this week, they will be allowed to bring a stuffed animal again on Thursday along with some of their favorite books. Please make sure that the stuffed animal is small enough to fit in your 1st grader's backpack.

Stay tuned for a post on Thursday regarding the special activity scheduled for Friday.

On another note, on Tuesday, May 23rd,  students will have their last Math and Science Test. The Math Test will be on telling time and nonstandard measurement using cubes and paperclips. The Science Test will be on animal classifications including fish, amphibians, insects, mammals, reptiles and birds.

We are reviewing daily in class. Students are having many hands-on opportunities to practice telling time and measuring items. The review and discussions in class will be ample preparation for students. If you'd like to review telling time to the hour and half hour, casually ask your child "What time is it?" relating to the hour and half hour.

In the evening, please continue to encourage your 1st grader to read for 20 minutes each day.

Thanks so much for your support!

Sincerely,
Mrs. DeBose

Parents,

I would love your input as to what you value the most and feel is the most essential part of a comprehensive counseling program.  If you could respond to the survey below, that would be wonderful in helping me tailor the program to meet the needs of our students here at CFES!
