Good afternoon, Parents!

I honestly can't believe that tomorrow we will only have 2 DAYS LEFT. Can you believe it?! Here are a few end of the year reminders:

Our balloon pop countdown has been so successful and tomorrow the kiddos are allowed to bring board games/card games to class. They can bring anything that is not electronic and doesn't have a lot of tiny pieces! We will have a read-in in the morning, followed by game day in the afternoon! I can't wait!

Thursday is early dismissal. Our Luau Party is from 11:30 to 12:30. You may take your child home after the party. I am looking forward to seeing everyone one last time before school lets out for summer!

Please make sure your child brings their backpack every day! We are almost done sending things home, but they will also get report cards on Thursday.

Thank you so much for such a fantastic year! I have loved being your child's teacher and I will miss your kiddos so much over the summer!

See you on Thursday!

BALLOON POP COUNTDOWN

The end of the school year is upon us, so we started our balloon pop countdown today!  Students earned the opportunity to bring a stuffed animal tomorrow, Thursday, May 18th.  Stuffed animals need to be small enough to fit in their backpacks. :)

A Note from our Counselor

Parents,

I would love your input as to what you value the most and feel is the most essential part of a comprehensive counseling program.  If you could respond to the survey below, that would be wonderful in helping me tailor the program to meet the needs of our students here at CFES!

Good afternoon, Parents!

As the school year is quickly winding down, we will not have homework for the remainder of the school year. However, please continue to read EVERY night for at least 20 minutes!

Also, library books are due by Friday, May 19th! Please gather your child's books and start sending them back to school! I will send home the last book order of the year this week for anyone who would like to order more books for summer! They will be due Friday, May 19th so that they will arrive in time for summer vacation! :)

On a fun note, we have started our animal research project! All work and research for this project will be completed in class over the next couple of weeks, but students will need to bring in a picture of their animal to use for their habitat. Please print at home so that the pictures can be in color :)

I can't believe the school year is almost over, but we still have a lot to complete and learn! We will take our district math benchmark later this week. This will cover everything that we have learned this year. Our last unit test will be next Tuesday over time and measurement. We will also have a writing benchmark later this week or at the beginning of next week. Students will get to chose what kind of writing they want to write including personal narrative, procedural or expository (nonfiction) text.

I am so grateful for each and every one of you. Thank you for your continued support!

A Note from Coach Baxter

Parents,

Your child will participate in field day this week. K-2nd grade will be on Thursday from 9:30-12:30, and 3rd -5th grade will be on Friday from 9:30-12:30. Please make sure that they wear the color that their teacher has given them, and tennis shoes. (First grade wears RED!) Field day attire must follow the school dress code. Kindergarten lunch is from 10:30-11:00, 1st grade from 11:00-11:30, and 2nd grade is from 11:30-12:00. Grades 3-5 will eat after the games at 12:30. If you did not order a box lunch for your student, please be sure to send your student with a sack lunch. On Friday the cafeteria will be closed, and will not be serving the regular menu to ANY grades. Only box lunches that were pre ordered, will be served on Friday. Please pack a lunch on Friday as well, if you did not order a box lunch.

Please make sure that your student puts on sunscreen/bug spray before they come to school. Please send them with a water bottle and towel for picnicking as well. We are hoping for beautiful weather, but you never know what could happen. Unless it is storming, we will plan to go on with the day. Thank you for allowing your child to participate. We are looking forward to 2 days full of fun!

Here is a list of words we brainstormed in class today! This week, we are learning and studying words with the suffix -ed. Before we brainstormed, we discussed what a suffix and base word is. The kiddos did a fantastic job brainstorming! Our sight words this week are: our, where, who.
Dear Students and Parents,

Wow. I can not begin to express how thankful I am for all of the generosity you have shown me during Teacher Appreciation Week. I have been truly overwhelmed with all of the sweet gestures! Thank you so much for making me feel so loved, not only during Teacher Appreciation Week, but all year long. I have appreciated each and every card, picture, sweet note, gift card, flower, thoughtful gift, and Disney souvenir more than you know.

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for sharing your sweet children with me this year. We have had a blast together in 1st grade, and I can't thank you enough for all of your help and support throughout the year. I am one lucky teacher :)

I hope you all enjoy this beautiful weekend!

Love,
Sam Needham

Dear Parents,

This week we will be learning about timelines in social studies and reading.  Each student will create their own timeline.  Please send 3 pictures to school of your child.  We need a baby picture, a toddler picture and a current picture.  The students will be taping the pictures to the timeline, so please don’t send keepsakes. The pictures will be returned to you with the completed project

Thank you for your help!

Mrs. Needham :)

IMPORTANT: A Note from our Music Teacher

MUSIC PROGRAM – STUDENTS WEARING COSTUMES:

Students with special parts should be dressed in costume for both performances.  Students can come to school in costume and change into school clothes after the program, or wear school clothes to school and change into the costume.  The restroom in the front entry hall is available, as well as my storage room if parents need to help with costumes.  I am available, as well.  We ask that parents do not go to the classrooms; however, as classes are in progress.  Please make sure your child gets a good night's rest, has breakfast and plenty of water.  Thank you!
