We have had a busy week of school this week!  The students are doing a great job of learning the routine of our classroom and building!
Parent Orientation has been rescheduled for Thursday, September 21, from 6 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. We will begin our evening in the cafeteria with a PTO meeting where officers will be introduced and their annual budget presented.  Parents will then move to the classrooms for a 30 minute teacher presentation about grade level expectations and procedures.  If at all possible, we ask that children not attend this event.  Seating is limited in our classrooms and the information presented is geared for parents. I hope to see you then!

A few reminders:
*If your child has not brought headphones, please try to send those in on Monday.  We will begin using computers next week.
*Our class will go to the Library on Tuesday.  Please have students return their books by Tuesday so they will be able to check out a new book.
*Students are encouraged to wear red, white, and blue on Monday in honor of September 11.
I hope you have a restful weekend!

Today is "Wednesday folder" day. Please check your child's yellow folder for important notes from the school. You will also find a Behavior Key (in the clear plastic sleeve) and a Behavior Chart in your child's yellow folder.  Please leave both of those in the yellow folder and check daily.

This week we are reviewing the letters Aa, Bb, Cc. We are naming each letter, making the correct sound, and writing it. We are also identifying words that begin with each letter. We are assessing our students to see who has mastered both upper and lower case letter names and sounds.

It was so wonderful to see everyone back at school today!  I hope all of you were able to stay dry and safe during the stormy weather.  The students did an awesome job of getting right back into the routine of school....I was very proud of them!  Today we visited the library and all students were able to check out a book.  We will go to the library every Tuesday, so please have your child return their book in order to check out a new book on our next visit.
Parent Orientation will be rescheduled and I will send that date out as soon as I know.
In Kindergarten we will be using computers.  Students will learn how to login to the computers. Please send head phones (labeled with your child's name) to school for your child to use on the computers this year. It would be helpful to show your child how to use a mouse and a touch pad to navigate a desktop computer and a laptop.
I am looking for a parent to help every Wednesday with our Wednesday folders. This would require coming in to the school and putting papers that need to be sent home in to our yellow folders.  Please send me an email if you would like to help with this...and if you are able to start tomorrow.  Thank you!

We had a busy third day in Kindergarten today!  We read David Goes to School and talked about making good choices vs. poor choices while at school.  Ask your child to tell you about the good choices we discussed.  We also practiced how to use wet glue today. The rule is "dot, dot, not a lot!"  We also went to Art and PE. We will go to PE daily, so please be sure your child has the appropriate shoes.

Our second day of kindergarten was amazing! We toured the school and learned the procedures in each place. We also learned about 2 more school tools...scissors and glue stick.

Please make sure students wear their wristband every day to school this week. We are using them at dismissal time. Any notes regarding transportation changes should be placed in your child's yellow daily folder.  Thank you in advance for helping us ensure your child goes home the correct way each day!

We have snack time in the afternoon.  Please make sure snacks are peanut/allergy free.

We will begin going to the computer lab next Friday, September 1. We will be learning how to login to the computers. Please send head phones (labeled with your child's name) to school for your child to use on the computers this year.
If you would like to help us in the Computer Lab next Friday, please send me an email for further details.

We had a great first day of Kindergarten!  We enjoyed reading Pete the Cat, Rocking in My School Shoes and going on a school tour. We learned about a few of our "school tools" and used our brand new pencil and crayons to draw a self portrait.  We read The Kissing Hand and made one for you. We learned how to play safe outside. We went to Art and PE. Today was a very busy day of learning lots of new rules and procedures... your students are probably very tired!!

Please send a snack and water bottle daily. We will send home the water bottles each afternoon to be cleaned and refilled. We are a PEANUT AND NUT FREE classroom... so no peanut and/or nut products please!
Your child's yellow daily folder went home in their backpack. There are several papers in the front pocket to take out. Please send the yellow folder back to school DAILY and remember to send any notes or transportation changes inside the front pocket.

WOW! It has been an amazing year! I love seeing how much each student has grown since the beginning of school. Also, thank you for all the end of year goodies. Have a GREAT summer!

If you ordered a yearbook for your child, they were sent home Friday. If you were unable to purchase one and you would like one, there are a limited number available in the office for $40.
Please write your child's name inside the front cover and send them back to school on your student's signing day (Tues. May 30)

A word from Ms. Dean:

Parents,

I would love your input as to what you value the most and feel is the most essential part of a comprehensive counseling program.  If you could respond to the survey below, that would be wonderful in helping me tailor the program to meet the needs of our students here at CFES!
