About Mrs. Boyer

I am so excited to be a part of Creekside Forest Elementary this year!  This is my 29th year of teaching and I have taught mainly 5th grade in Maryland, Virginia, and now Texas!
My bachelor's degree from Longwood University in Virginia is in middle school education grades 4-8, and my master's degree from Hood College in Maryland is in administration.
When I'm not in school, I am spending time with my family.  My husband, R.F., and I have been married for 27 years.  We have three children, Madison, Mackenzie and Matthew.  My oldest daughter, Madison, graduated from Texas State University and is working in Charlotte, North Carolina.  My youngest daughter, Mackenzie, will be a junior this year at the College of William and Mary in Virginia.  My youngest child, Matthew will be a 9th grader!    My family loves the beach and spending time together!
I am super excited to work with my students and develop their love for reading and writing!  By creating individual, learning experiences for your child through technology and creativity, my goal is to make your kids want to come to school and learn!  I love peaking my students interested in different topics and letting them be in charge of their learning!  When it is important to them, it makes it much more fun!

6th Grade Course Selection

We are learning about fiction Signposts this week!

Your child should be reading at least 30 minutes each night and looking for different signposts.  They should be writing them down on sticky notes so they can share what they read with the class.  Ask them to share their bookmarks with you and talk about some of the signposts that we've learned.  Have a great day!

Vocabulary Test on Friday!

Please make sure your child is working on their Unit 4 vocabulary this week.  Our test is Friday!  Thank you!

Unit 3 Vocabulary Test and Fish in a Tree Test on Friday

We are finishing "Fish in a Tree" today!!  It has been a great book.  Please have your child tell you all about it!  Our test is on Friday!  Unit 3 Vocabulary was assigned on Monday.  Please make sure your child is completing their book and studying for the test on Friday.  Thanks!

Grammar Test Tomorrow

Please make sure your child is studying their notes and re-watching videos that help explain run-on sentences, capitalization rules, plural/possessives, subject verb agreement, quotation marks, and commonly misspelled words.  Thanks!

Busy Friday!!

Friday is a busy day!  Their plot test is Friday.  Please make sure your  child is studying their notes and different resources in Schoology.  They need to know the parts of the plot including the exposition, rising action, climax, falling action and resolution.  They also need to know what foreshadowing is (hints the author gives about events happening later in the story)and be able to recognize it.
They also have a vocabulary test on Friday.  They need to study their words carefully.
The last thing is they will be presenting their patriotic symbol assignments to the class.  The rubric is on Schoology.
