Week 26

This week begins our last grading period. I can't believe that we are approaching the end of the year! I have reorganized reading groups so that I may help Mrs. Krigbuam with reading groups as her class grows larger. Also this week we will be continuing our studies of place value and building numbers up to 120. Please print the base ten block file and cut out the blocks.

On Thursday the students on campus will be participating in a severe weather drill at 8:40 am. Due to this, we will not have a live log in at 8:40. I will post an independent reading activity in Schoology. Also on Thursday please have your student bring a plant or flower to the camera for live science. We will be beginning our study of the parts of a plant.
Our class is collecting Lego items for our class's auction basket for Creekfest. We are still in need of several items. Please see the sign up below from our room mom Mrs. Bollinger.

Week 24

Wow! We have made it to spring break! On Friday of this week, we will review geometry by sharing household items shaped like 3-d shapes. Please have your student bring 2 items shapes like a cylinder, cone, sphere, cube, pyramid, or rectangular prism to the computer for math. Below you will find a link an optional activity for math on Friday.
There will be no live login at 8:40  tomorrow Monday the 8th. I will post a reading activity.

Week 23

I am so excited for the 100th day tomorrow! Can you believe it, we have been learning online for 100 days! Please send me a photo of your students wearing their 100 day shirt. Below you will find our weekly update.

Week 21

Burr! I hope everyone is staying warm! Tuesday will be an asynchronous learning day. We will have one live check-in at 9:40 on Google Meet. I will take attendance and go over the day's assignments.

Tuesday Feb. 16th

Tuesday, Feb. 16th has been declared an inclement weather/ remote learning day for Tomball ISD. We will have one live check-in at 9:40 on our normal Google Meet. I will post asynchronous activities for all subject areas that day.

On Friday we will celebrate Valentine's Day with a variety of activities. We will have a virtual valentine exchange on Flipgrid. Be on the lookout for an email with templates and the link to the Flipgrid tomorrow. For our kindness project, we will paint rocks to donate to the hospital garden. I have attached a photo. If you would like your student to participate you will need paint and a rock. Rocks may be dropped off in the 1st grade bucket at the front of the school. For science on Thursday and math on Friday we will use conversation hearts. If child would like to do the science experiment at home they will need conversation hearts and vinegar. They may also just watch Mrs. Krigbaum live. Friday's math will be a sorting and graphing activity with conversation hearts. Students may complete at home or a digital option will be available.

100th Day!

February 22nd is the 100th day of School! To celebrate 1st grade students will make shirts that have 100 items on it. We will do lots of 100 day activities during the day. Have you student wear their shirt for class on the 22nd. Also please email me a photo of your student in their shirt. I am going to make a collage of the class to hang in the hall at school.
