Newsletter Week of May 31st

I hope your summer is off to a fabulous start! Our students are so deserving of a nice, long break after this crazy year! As I reflect on the school year, I'm humbled by the hard work that our kiddos put in this year. They ROSE to the challenge and consistently amazed me by how willing and able they were to meet the ever changing demands of being a student in the midst of a pandemic. They proved to be relentless and nothing would stop them from accomplishing their goals.
I'm also humbled by the generosity of YOU! Your words of encouragement were so needed and appreciated. I consider myself so blessed to have been a part of the most amazing community! THANK YOU!
After much thought and prayer, I have decided to stay home with baby Luke next year. I am excited for this next season as a mother, but also saddened that I was will not get to see your children next year as they transition to fifth grade. However, I know that they are more than ready to tackle the challenges they will face in the future.
Thank you for an amazing year and for being so patient and kind during the many changes that surfaced. Thank you for trusting me with your most prized possession, your sweet children. Thank you for your constant support and kindness. Creekside Forest will always hold a special place in my heart because of you.
Have a WONDERFUL summer!

End of Year Reminders

Happy Tuesday CFES Families!
There are ALOT of AMAZING student-made crafts coming home from the market day today. Caution - there are a handful of stress balls made out of an assortment of items. I suggest not having these be used in the car or on the carpet! Several have broken here at school. We are AMAZED at all of the creativity and thought that went into their items.
If you have any medications in the nurse's office, please make arrangements to pick it up. Meds that are not picked up will be destroyed. If you have any questions, please email [email protected]
Please bring back yearbooks tomorrow for our 4th-grade signing!

THANK YOU & Weekly Newsletter

Wow! What a wonderful surprise today was! Thank you so much for once again making me feel loved! It's been such a fun journey getting to share this pregnancy with your children. The shower you helped throw today was something I'll never forget. The students had a blast "diapering" babies and gave the sweetest advice. Once again, THANK YOU!
As we reach our last week of school, please find important updates in our weekly newsletter.
With love,
Mrs. Still

Wax Museum Tomorrow

Wax Museum is tomorrow.  All students should come to school dressed as their Wax Museum person. They may bring a change of clothes if they wish to change after their presentation. All boards and artifacts should be here at school. Reminder that no parent drop offs are permitted during school hours as per TISD guidelines. THANK YOU!
Our car parade will be at 10:45-11:15.  Please start the car line close to the beginning of the car drop off area (right outside of Mrs. Morrow's classroom).  Students will come outside about 5-10 minutes before to get set.  We'll come out to signal the start of the parade.  Feel free to drive around more than once if time allows.
WEATHER- If for any reason the weather doesn't cooperate and we need to cancel, we will notify parents with an email at 9:15 am.  Our hope is to hold the event under the covered area even if it's raining lightly.  The kids will be dry and safe.
Thank you for your help in making this possible for our kids.  We're thankful for all of our CFES family!

Wax Museum Parent Car Parade

Good morning families,
This year, we're inviting all parents/families of 4th grade students to join us in celebrating our Wax Museum participants. Parents and families may parade past our students by driving through our Wax Museum Car Parade on Wednesday, May 19th from 10:45-11:15am out front of CFES in our car line. 4th graders will be dressed as their Wax Museum person and ready to wave to all of the families who can celebrate with us. No live presentations, just an opportunity to show off their hard work.
Please keep cars moving in a single line past students and ensure a safe distance between each vehicle. Feel free to drive by twice if time allows! We'll be sure to take photos and share them with you for keepsakes. Please email me if you have any questions. Thank you!

Just a quick reminder that STAAR testing will be tomorrow (math) and Wednesday (reading). Students have been working SO hard and are prepared. Please be sure your child:

  • brings a jacket
  • dresses comfortably
  • doesn't bring phone (or turns off)
  • doesn't bring smartwatches
  • brings water bottle
  • brings snack (optional)
  • knows that he/she is loved regardless of their performance
I am so proud of my students and the hard work they've been putting in this year! I KNOW they are ready. Thanks in advance for your support during testing.

Dear Families,
As our year quickly comes to a close, there are several items we wanted to remind you about.
1. Parent letters DUE tomorrow (for Staar tests)
     a. Plan to pick up a trifold board or poster board to display your child's research board.
     b. Begin working on student's presentation boards. These boards should include important information on your child's person (Early Life, Adult Life, Importance to Texas). Please include a title and pictures.
Wax Museum Boards and Artifacts DUE Tuesday, May 18th
DRESS UP like your person Wednesday, May 19th.
Thank you in advance for your support in your child's wax museum projects. This is a FUN project to bring our year to a close.
Have a great day,

THINK UP! Optional Practice Reading

Good evening,
Students were sent home with their Reading THINK UP books today and a list of reading passages to choose from to read. For extra practice as we push towards STAAR, students are encouraged to read the passages, stop & jot, and answer the questions at home. The next day, they may return their work to me for an incentive and to check their answers in class. This is not mandatory, but a great way to get in some extra reading as our year comes to a close! Thank you in advance for your support!
If you have any questions, feel free to reach out.

Weekly Newsletter Week of April 26th

We've had a week of successful surgery! We took our writing to the ER (edit/revise) and brought Mrs. Trammell and Ms. Killam through surgery successfully! The kids so enjoyed this week of fun, targeted learning through the ER theme. Thank you to everyone who helped make this week possible!
Next week, on Tuesday, we will be taking our STAAR writing test. The kids are ready and prepared, and I know they will knock it out of the park! Please view the newsletter for further instructions of our testing day. I hope you have a fabulous weekend!
Love, Mrs. Still

Wax Museum

Dear Families,
Tomorrow, your child will bring home two purple papers about Wax Museum!!
Please read these over and help your child choose their top 3 people that they would like to be.  RETURN that paper by Monday, April 19th.  Please keep the other paper as it outlines the project and gives you the Student To-Do List.  Students will need to collect 3-5 resources next!
I can't wait to begin this project with your child!
