FRIDAY is water day! The students will participate in all kinds of fun water activities, such as water balloons, misters and squirt bottles, relay races and everything water. Clothing & shoes will get completely wet. Please send a full change of clothing and towel – including socks, shoes, and underwear. Students will change after the activities. Boys may wear swimsuit bottoms and a t-shirt or swim shirt. Girls may wear swimsuits under their clothes, or shorts and a swim top. Clothing must meet dress code requirements.  You may send a hat and please apply sunscreen at home.  Each student will enjoy popsicles to wrap up the fun!

The end of the year is quickly approaching!  Here are some important reminders as we get ready to celebrate the end of the school year!
*All library books were to be turned in by today, May 18.  If your child has not returned his/her library book, please send it in ASAP.
*All green book bags need to be returned this week, if your child did not return it all ready.
*Your child brought home his/her red Homework folder today.  We are done with Kindergarten homework for the year.  Please do not return it on Friday.  If your child has left over writing pages, please feel free to use it as practice over the summer.
*With the warm weather upon us, please make sure your child brings a refillable water bottle each day to school to help him/her stay hydrated!
 
WATER DAY! 
On Friday, May 25th we will have water day from 11:30 - 1:00! In order to have a successful water day we are in need of donated items and volunteers.
Below is the donation and volunteer sign up. Please consider donating, if you are able. Items should be brought in by Tuesday, May 22nd to ensure that we have everything needed.

Field Day Info from Coach Baxter:

Your child will participate in field day this week. K-2nd grade will be on Thursday from 9:30-12:30, and 3rd -5th grade will be on Friday from 9:30-12:30. Please make sure that they wear the color that their teacher has given them, and tennis shoes. Field day attire must follow the school dress code. Kindergarten lunch on Thursday is from 10:30-11:00, 1st grade from 11:00-11:30, and 2nd grade is from 11:30-12:00. On Friday, Grades 3-5 will eat after the games at 12:30. If you did not order a box lunch for your student, please be sure to send your student with a sack lunch. On Friday the cafeteria will be closed, and will not be serving the regular menu to ANY grades. Only box lunches that were pre-ordered, will be served on Friday. Please pack a lunch on Friday as well, if you did not order a box lunch.

Please make sure that your student puts on sunscreen/bug spray before they come to school. Also, send them with a water bottle and towel for picnicking at lunch. We are hoping for beautiful weather, but you never know what could happen. Unless it is storming, we will plan to go on with the day. Thank you for allowing your child to participate. We are looking forward to 2 days full of fun!

Dear Parents,
Thank you so much for all of the wonderful goodies, gifts, treats, and cards this week!  I am so overwhelmed by your kindness and generosity!  It has truly been a blessing to be your child's teacher this year!
 
Reminders:
-Please check the sign up link below for Field Day volunteers on May 17 & 18.
 
-School will be closed to visitors Monday (5/14), Tuesday (5/15) and Wednesday (5/16) due to STAAR testing.
 
TUESDAY May 15th we will sign yearbooks. Please send your student with their yearbook and something to sign other yearbooks with (thin sharpies work great). If your child did not purchase a yearbook I will give them an autograph booklet to have friends sign.
 

The end of Kindergarten is just around the corner!  Our room moms are planning a fun end of the year party for our classes.  Please check out the Sign Up Genius link if you would like to help with party donations.  Thank you for all of your help and support throughout the school year! 
*Just a reminder our party will be on the last day of school, Thursday, May 31, at 11:30 a.m.  Early dismissal will be at 12:50 p.m.

From our Counselor, Ms. Dean:

Students in grades 3, 4, and 5, will have an opportunity to show all that they’ve learned this year as they take a variety of STAAR tests.   

May 14th, 2018:  3rd, 4th Math, 5th retest

May 15th, 2018: 3rd, 4th Reading

May 16th, 2018: 5th Science STAAR

Due to the security of this testing process, all parents (Kinder through 5thgrade), will eat lunch with their children on other dates. Volunteers are also asked to reschedule their time. Thank you in advance for your cooperation in this matter. Here at Creekside Forest, we have the most amazing parents who provide their time and care to volunteer and make our school a nurturing environment.

A note from our music teacher:  If your child has a speaking part in Thursday’s program, please work with him/her for memorization, as well as speaking as slowly and clearly as possible, and with voice inflection so that it does not sound like it is being read.  Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.  Thank you!  Donna Rae Fender

***Parents:  As the end of the school year quickly approaches, we would like to remind you that you must fill out a volunteer application through the TISD website in order to participate in our end of the year activities! Tomorrow, April 24 (Tuesday), is Muffins with Mom at 7:30 a.m!  We hope you can join us for muffins and a visit to the Book Fair!

The Book Fair will be taking place all week.  We will visit the Book Fair as a class tomorrow afternoon, so if you would like to send money to school with your child to purchase something we will go during our normal library time.

Thank you to all who attended our field trip today!  The children had a blast, despite the cooler weather!  The bus ride home was rather quiet, so I know the children are exhausted from a fun day!

Tomorrow is the field trip!
Here are a few reminders:
-Leave your students backpack and all folders at home. Folders will be turned in on Monday. 
-Please pack lunch in a plastic/ziploc bag with their name on it. Lunch kits are not allowed. Everything needs to be able to be thrown away.
-Wear a yellow shirt.
-Bring one disposable water bottle labeled with name.
-All students will ride the bus to the Oil Ranch with our class, and back to school with our class.
**If you are volunteering as a chaperone, please look for a note in today's folder.  Please bring your lunch and your child's lunch to the Oil Ranch with you.  Once we arrive we will put your lunches into our coolers.  Thanks!

-Bring one disposable water bottle labeled with name. No personal water bottles, only disposable.
-Have your student at school as early as possible. We will leave at 8:45 a.m.
-Your child does not need to bring any money with him/her.

Important Reminder:  Field Trip Permission slips are due on Friday, April 13!  We will be visiting the Oil Ranch on April 20!

*Red Homework folders are due every Friday, with 1 writing prompt completed! Please make sure your child is writing at least 2 complete sentences.

*Please make sure your child is returning their green reading bag (with books) each week, on his/her reading day.  I will send home new books when the books from the previous week are returned.  Students should be reading their books daily....practice, practice, practice!  Repeated readings will help with their fluency, and comprehension skills.  Students should be able to talk about the book and answer questions after reading. You can find some Reading Comprehension Questions on my webpage under the Kindergarten Printables link.  Thank you for your continued support at home to help your child be successful this year in Kindergarten!  The end of the year will be here before we know it!

Field Trip and School Supplies

Field Trip

 

Permission slips for our field trip to The Oil Ranch on April 20th went home yesterday. Please fill out and return no later than April 13. You may visit the website www.oilranch.com for more information about the location.
 
 **All parents attending the field trip must fill out the district volunteer form. You can find the form in the quick links on the right side of the Tomball ISD website.
 
Information about school supplies for next year also went home yesterday.  You can check out the flier attached as well.  Please consider ordering your child's supplies ahead of time....it not only supports our school, but you will get to avoid the crowds of people shopping for supplies in the stores!
